Back on it

After a short break we’re back rehearsing, trying to refine the set but also learn some new ones.

We’ve got our work cut out though; Apply Some Pressure by the mighty Maximo Park took a bit of head scratching at first with its awkward timings, but we’re getting there with it now and it’s gonna be ace.

When we first started learning Cousins by Vampire Weekend, it almost stumped us with its long drum fills and crazy off beat hi hats, but after perseverance we’ve now bashed it into a dance floor filler – we’re expecting people to scream their lungs out to the refrain!

On the other hand, it’s been a right laugh learning Abba’s Does Your Mother Know?

The intro is by far the campest piece of  music we’re ever likely to play, and it’s going to be hard for Pete to get through the lyrics without a letting out a giggle. Not that we’re tasteless of course, you must understand.

This has also been a hoot…

…we may (or may not) try segueing it into Iggy Pop’s Lust For Life, we’ll see how it goes.

If you fancy checking us out, we’ll be playing these tunes, amongst others at The Patrick Kavanagh in Moseley, Birmingham on Saturday 6 April. Entry is free, doors open at 8pm.

Hope to see you there!
